CM Naqvi announces plots for journalists of Punjab

LAHORE,  (HADI): Fulfilling his promise, Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Syed Mohsin Naqvi on Sunday has announced the allotment of residential plots to professional journalists of Punjab.

Making the announcement, the chief minister has said that for the first time in the history of the province, the journalists will be allotted plots through a transparent balloting. “As many as 3, 300 plots will be given to reporters, photographers and cameramen associated with both print and electronic media,” he has said, adding, “Reporters will be given seven marlas plots each, while photographers and cameramen three-marla plots each.”

“We have reserved 200 acres of land for the purpose,” he has informed.

He has said that the ad defining the criteria of eligibility for the plots will be published in newspapers tomorrow (January 22), while journalists can apply until January 28. “We will try to hold balloting before February 8,” he has said.

The CM has further said that the Ravi Urban Development Authority officials will brief journalists about the procedure for applying for the plots.

He has said that in the next phase, plots will be announced for journalists working in newsrooms.

He has said that whichever city he visited during the past one year as the chief minister, he heard journalists demanding incentives.
