Story:
Title: “A safe place to hide”
There there was a young child named Lily who lived in a small town that was tucked away amid flowing streams and rolling hills. Her blue eyes gleamed with curiosity, and her curly brown hair bounced as she skipped over the cobblestone streets. Lily shared a home with her grandmother, Granny Rose, a sweet woman with silver hair who was well-known to many.
The town’s way of life was uncomplicated, but occasionally storms would pass through, frightening Lily with their thunder and lighting. Granny Rose used to cradle Lily in her arms during those stormy evenings, rocking her gently and lulling her to sleep until the storm subsided. In her grandmother’s arms, Lily felt protected from the scary noises outside.
While Lily was playing in the town square one day, she caught sight of an old, deserted structure bearing a faded sign that said, “The Haven.” Even though the paint was flaking and the windows were broken, Lily found the property intriguing for some reason. Choosing to investigate, she pushed the groaning door open.
Lily entered and saw a dingy room full with misplaced possessions. Delving farther, she discovered a quaint nook featuring a faded bedspread and a shabby chair. It resembled a well-kept secret retreat, a secure haven from the outside world. Lily made the decision to turn it into her own sanctuary.
Ever since that day, Lily would flee to her hidden sanctuary anytime a storm was approaching. The ancient structure turned become her haven—a place where thunder’s reverberations could never reach. She transformed it into a warm, inviting hideaway with pillows, blankets, and her favourite novels.
Lily heard a shy knock on her refuge’s door one rainy night. Carefully opening it, she discovered a stray kitten, trembling in the rain. Lily took up the little ball of hair and grinned as she showed the cat her home. They shared the warmth and comfort of their safe haven as they weathered the storm together.
As word of Lily’s safe haven got out, more kids in the community started going there to hide during storms. The once-abandoned structure was transformed into a safe haven where people could come to share their anxieties and foster connections.

Granny Rose, who was perceptive and knowledgeable, saw that Lily had changed. When she inquired about the sanctuary, Lily delightedly related the tales of solace and friendship that transpired inside its boundaries. Granny Rose grinned, understanding that the most profound refuges in life can occasionally be found in the most unlikely locations.
Over time, Lily’s refuge came to represent resiliency and camaraderie. The community accepted the concept and worked together to renovate the old structure, making it a permanent sanctuary for everyone. As a young lady, Lily reflected on how the town’s common need for protection had developed into a wonderful refuge of love, warmth, and special times spent together.
